The Bible Project Daily Podcast is a 10 year plan to study through the entire Bible, both Old and New Testament, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Season one is a short overview of each of the sixty-six books of the Bible. Season two launched our expositional journey through the whole Bible beginning with the book of Genesis. Thereafter each season take a New Testament/Old Testament alternatively until the project is complete. Like Father, or Like Son. (1 Samuel 14:1-52)
In this episode, we’re turning to 1 Samuel chapter 14—a story that contrasts two men, a father and a son. One is Saul, the king who sits beneath a fruit tree while the battle rages. The other is Jonathan, his son, who steps forward in faith, believing that “nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.”
This chapter shows us the difference between half-hearted religion and wholehearted faith, between trusting ourselves and trusting God. It’s a story about courage, foolishness, obedience, and grace.
